A 107-year-old woman has one piece of advice to living a long life that should be pretty easy to follow: never get married.

Louise Signore lives in New York. She was born in Harlem in 1912, the year that the Titanic crashed into an iceberg. The Italian-American has lived in the Bronx since age 14.

Louise is still remarkably healthy for her age. The only medication she takes daily is a blood pressure pill. She still lives alone, dances, and plays bocce.

Friend Deborah Whitaker told CBS 2:

“She’s got no walking cane, no wheelchair. She does all her shopping. She’s awesome.”

In fact, Louise credits her solo lifestyle with her longevity.

“I think the secret of 107: I never got married. I think that’s the secret. My sister says ‘I wish I never got married.'”

Her other tips included dancing and eating Italian food.

“Italian food. Italian food is very good for you. I was brought up with very good food. No soda, no cake.”

No cake except to celebrate this very important milestone.

Over 100 people showed up to celebrate Louise’s 107th birthday at the JASA Bartow Senior Center.

Said Aisha Parillon, senior director of senior services at JASA:

“I think that her connection with her neighbors in the community and also her friends here at the senior center help to keep her going.”

A life full of good food, friends, dancing, and no pesky husband?

Sounds lovely to me!
