This is how you do it during lockdown, parents!

As you’re well aware, graduation ceremonies from middle school, high school, and college were either modified or even canceled this year due to the worldwide health crisis. Which is a huge bummer because you know these kids worked their butts off to get where they are.

What’s a parent to do?

Well, a dad in Memphis, Tennessee named Torrence Burson wanted to give his daughter Gabrielle Pierce a nice graduation despite the circumstances and he went all out. Pierce had spent four years at Xavier University of Louisiana and dad wanted to show her how proud everyone was of her.

So Burson said, “After all those years, you’re going to walk across somebody’s stage if I have to build you one myself.”

And he did just that.

He built a stage with a podium in his driveway and even had a procession, the playing of the national anthem, a commencement address, and finally, Pierce received her degree.

Burson even made programs that read:

“”Gabrielle graduated from Southwind High School in 2015 with the ambition to attend The Illustrious Xavier University of Louisiana to achieve a degree in Biology Pre-Medicine.

During her junior year of college, she decided to go into another direction of medicine by deciding to go into Public Health Science for Epidemiology. After all the trials and tribulations she went through, she completed college with 130 credit hours.

She now plans to join the Armed forces to accomplish her end goal of working for the CDC.”

The proud dad said,

“We love our daughter this much. Regardless of the dollar figure, what it took to pull this off. If I had to do this over again, I’d probably do it even bigger.”

What a great story!

Here’s some video and a news report about the story as well for you to enjoy.
