A real estate brought “happy holidays” to a whole new level by putting millions of dollars toward employees’ holiday bonuses.
St. John Properties divided a $10 million bonus amongst its 198 employees. Though the company is based in Maryland, its employees work in offices in eight states, including Maryland, Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
A video captured the emotional scene — some employees cried with surprise and gratitude.
That means the average employee is receiving $50,000 each.
However, the exact size of each employee’s bonus depends on their years of service. Some lucky employees are getting over $250,000, while some get as little as $100.
Founder Edward St. John announced the news during the company’s annual holiday party. He handed out red envelopes containing the amounts of the bonuses to each employee.
The bonus was a celebration of the company reaching a major milestone: developing 20 million square feet of office, retail, and other commercial real estate space. That goal was set in 2005, and it took 14 years to reach.
St. John said in a statement…
“To celebrate the achievement of our goal, we wanted to reward our employees in a big way that would make a significant impact on their lives.”

But here’s the coolest part… employees will also receive their usual annual bonus! WOW!
Per the company’s statement, they also enjoy other employee perks, such as profit sharing, paid vacation time, a matched 401(k) and an on-site gym.
Just one question: Are they hiring? 😉
