As a kid, losing a tooth can be a pretty exciting moment; mostly because you get to put it under your pillow and wait for a gift to appear the next day.

But one child in Wisconsin didn’t just have his tooth come loose… but he LOST the tooth. As in, it fell out while he was at school and then it disappeared, never to be found again.

Thankfully, the student’s principal was not about to let him miss out on his due compensation from the Tooth Fairy.

Principal Curt Angeli at Gillett Elementary School wrote a letter to the Tooth Fairy printed on school district letterhead. He verified that the student did, indeed, lose a tooth at school that day.

The letter reads:

“Today, [the student] lost a tooth while playing outside at recess.

Unfortunately, it was lost in our ga-ga pit, and despite the valiant efforts of an intrepid search team, we were unable to recover the tooth.”

Angeli continued…

“As a trained principal and hobby dentist, I can verify that there is definitely a gap in [the student]’s teeth that was not there this morning when he came in.

Please accept this letter as official verification of a lost tooth and provide the standard monetary exchange rate you normally use for a real tooth.”

No word on whether the Tooth Fairy accepted this letter in lieu of an actual tooth, but honestly, who could resist this very official-looking letter?!

Three cheers for this principal. You’re doing it right!
