Take a look at this interesting question that stopped me in my tracks on Reddit:

Who are you weirdly attracted to?
byu/Ordinary_Owl_795 inAskReddit

The reason is stopped me is because it made me wonder – what exactly does that mean? Does that mean that the attraction is weird in quality? Or does it mean that it’s weird that the attraction exists at all?

The answer turned out to be “yes.”

1. Annie Lennox from “Eurythmics”

I think and will forever continue to think she is an absolute babe even if people think she looks too masculine. I remember seeing the music video for “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” when I was younger and got introduced to how stunningly gorgeous and powerful a woman with short orange hair in a suit is.

She’s also done tons of stuff involving humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, political activism, and is an overall genuine and kind individual.

2. Kristen Schall

Kristen Schall, from Flight of the Concorde and Last Man on Earth (among other things).

She has such a confidently nerdy vibe about her.

– PaperClipsAreEvil

3. The Gynocologist

My new gyno. She’s probably 10-20 yrs older than me, stunning, and has the curl definition & color of my dreams.

We discussed hair care methods & products during my appointment. Unfortunately her color is natural silver & I’ve yet to achieve it unnaturally.

She’s also just a really lovely person who puts you at ease immediately, which is an underrated quality in her profession.

4. Adam Driver

My colleagues think I’m f**king mad because I adore him as Kylo Ren. Absolutely love videos of him training for Star Wars, he puts his heart and soul into everything he does. And he’s awkward and goofy in interviews but also tall and dark haired and s**y and yeah.

I thought I was the only one until I watched his YouTube videos and a lot of the comments were the same (the thirst order ha!). Also he’s amazing in Girls, I rewatch it for him

– twinings91

5. Roy Scheider

I always thought the late Roy Scheider was s**y and rough handsome, peak in Jaws 1 I crushed on him when i was in my twenties and throughout his amazing career.

– Lectric_Eye

6. Lucius Malfoy

Jason Isaacs is hot, doubly so when he’s eeeeevil.

This translated into my also finding the book character hot, so that was a weird time.

7. Powerful women

Women in power and high positions.

Ceo women, matriarchs, captains, any powerful leading women, you get it, even in politics i might add but with certain reservations.

But I’m a nobody. Lol

8. Steve Buscemi

The only super serious argument my husband and I ever got into was when I told him I would much, much, MUCH rather sleep with Steve Buscemi than Mark Wahlberg.

He didn’t believe me.

Steve Buscemi is a MENSCH and a huge fan of my favorite band. And he wouldn’t be selfish like Marky Mark, if you know what I mean.

9. The list goes on

John Goodman, French Stewart, Dan Aykroyd, Bronson Pinchot, Michael Keaton, martin short, Rick moranis, Danny Kaye, Seth rogen, David Krumholtz…sensing a theme? Lol

– queenofnochill

10. Alan Rickman as Snape

I had a crush on Snape (and specifically Alan Rickman as Snape) since I was in my young teens.

Still do.

His voice and imposing presence….

11. Syndrome (The Incredibles)

okay do not ask but i used to have a weird attraction to syndrome from incredibles when i was younger

i never voiced it out loud and it was mostly because of his personality (like that makes it any better lmao)

to this day i still h**e myself for it.

– xxminie

12. Greg House (House, M.D.)

I’m 100% here for this.

Even worse, I know a man who resembles him irl, and I’ve got a dreadful thing for him as well.

Can’t decide if it’s the cheekbones, or manic demeanor. Or lethal combo of both.

– Cruella-DeDoomsville

13. Confident villains

I h**e it when I get crushes on villains, but the confidence and dominance of some of them is ridiculous.

A few that pop into my head are Ares from Xena/Hercules and Jerry Dandritch from the 80s Fright Night.

– Ticklish_Kink_Wife

14. The neighborhood grocer

There’s a green grocer in my neighborhood. A woman in her late fifties runs it with her husband.

She has an elegance that is difficult to put into words. Beyond her elegance is a tranquility that permeates the space around her.

I know she’s caught me stealing glances as I pick apples and oranges from the produce carts. It doesn’t seem to bother her.

We lock gazes every so often. Every time I go I feel nervous and expectant.

If she wasn’t married, I think I’d try to get to really know her.

15. Susan Sarandon

I’m under 40 and she’s almost 75 but yeah, there’s just an attraction on my part that I can’t quite explain.

– heyimjason

16. The lady on the bus

There is always this one woman on my bus in the morning. Comfortable clothing, no make up, glasses, always reading a book and probably nearly twice my age. (40s i would guess)

I sometimes just can not stop looking at her. I never had this with another person.

– MoneyRough2983

17. Danny Phantom

My girlfriend: “Danny Phantom can get it. And his goth friend too.”

I need to change my workout routine. Anyone know how I can get more…angular?

– Paradox224

18. Geoffrey Rush

it’s the voice and the mannerisms. I’m sure my weird taste like that must have something to do with living my life without any father figure.

Also had a very strong obsession with Johnny Depp starting at 9 years old and ending probably around 18.

Pirates of the Caribbean was my awakening what can I say. ? embarrassed

– Ariannaree

19. Matthew Lillard

Or really any tall skinny doofus.

But yeah Matthew Lillard in the original Scream made me realize being into guys wasn’t just a phase.

And it turns out he’s a pretty nice guy as well from what I’ve seen on the internet.

– throwitprettyfar

20. The shy gal at work

A woman I used to work with who has some serious anxiety problems and has a very mild intellectual disability.

We’ve definitely caught each other glancing and then looking away.

She is stunning and you wouldn’t know she has any kind of disability until you really get to know her and talk to her.

I Still think about her to this day.

– monkeynuts3000

21. The dentist

My dentist. I’ve been seeing him for like 15 years.

He’s way older than me and not a man I would look at twice if he wasn’t my dentist. But his presence is really comforting and the intimacy of his hands in my mouth has always been weirdly arousing.

Never would do anything, but it’s fun to imagine scenarios when I’m lying in the chair and he’s leaning over me.

– A_Dazzling_Method

22. Confusing Vanessa

I was once in a class with a girl called Vanessa. She was a really confusing person.

In one moment she is the kindest person in the room and in the next she’s ready to crucify you.

Never really liked her until I saw her cry one day. Her fiance was being weird and she was scared he wants to break up.

– D**nkTeenager

23. Matt Berry from the IT Crowd

Matt Berry is like someone took the accent of every single aristocrat in England, and averaged them all out to get his voice.

It’s bloody magnificent.

– ramzyzeid

24. Terry Crews and Neil DeGrasse Tyson

One day my wife came home from work having a new game. “You get to make a cheat-list with five celebrities, but–here’s the catch–two of them have to be men!”

I contemplated for 0.08 seconds and replied, “Terry Crews and Neil DeGrasse Tyson.”

Because her coworkers are pretty conservative, she’d anticipated some consternation at this requirement, so she was poleaxed by the readiness of my reply. So to this day we (only partially) feign my wild attraction to those two.

– SurlyJason

25. Again…

He’s not traditionally handsome. But he’s got that tall and dark thing going on.

Not only that, but he can be deeply serious and incredibly funny.

He’s such a great actor that he can play any version of your dream crush.

– Averagejoee1990

26. Orthodox Jewish rabbis

I don’t know what it is, but those curly pigtails hanging from their black hat and the dangly belts just does it for this Goy.

– Humble_Parfait_4806

27. Pavarotti

Yes, I know he’s dead. I mean when he was alive.

It’s a fairly recent thing since I ran across this clip of him singing in the shower.

That broad, burly chest is crying out to be hugged.

– Super_Turnip

29. Tar?

The smell of tar when new road are being laid out on the street.

Something about this smell that I had always enjoyed smelling. Maybe we if I was around this smell more often, then perhaps I would not liked it so much.

Edit: never mind, just noticed that the question was asking who and not what. My reply now seems weirderer than my intention.

– UnfilteredPerception

I think these are all pretty understandable. Except maybe tar guy…
