I’ve never been much a flowery optimist myself but I do appreciate a bit of inspiration, especially when it’s down to earth and just makes sense.

One of my favorite oddly inspirational quotes comes from writer David Foster Wallace, who said…

“You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do.”

At first it almost seems depressing or nihilistic, but I actually take a lot of comfort in it. We fixate so much on our imperfections that we assume everyone else is also judging us. But usually, they’re not. Because they’re too busy worrying about their imperfections. Which means that, by golly, we’re all just trying our best out here.

Here are ten great quotes that might help us try that much more.

10. The gratitude attitude

Expecting perfection will only bring frustration.

9. Think it through

Nothing will ever beat some hands-on experience.

8. I’m Batman

He’s invincible in that thing, and so are you.

7. What’s the buzz

Sometimes reality bites – don’t let size fool you.

6. Dream weavers

Invest in yourself first.

5. Who helps the helpers

There is never any bit of harm in asking.

4. Knocked around

Also suddenly you’re blowing up.

3. A million second chances

It’s hard but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth doing.

2. Take pride

A little interest can go a long way.

1. Consistently inconsistent

Persistence will outrun a thousand lucky breaks.

Whether you’re a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty or hey-who-took-my-glass type of person, we hope you got a bit of inspiration from those, and that they brightened up your day.
