A few nights ago, mom of two, Jessica D’Entremont, found herself looking at a couple of potential meltdowns. It was close to bedtime and her daughters, Emma, age 4, and Hannelore, age 3, weren’t even close to calming down after a busy day.

Then, she remembered something that would change everything. She had recently pulled out the girls’ glow-in-the-dark pajamas from last Halloween.

She knew the girls would want a bright glow from the pajamas, so she told them exactly what to do.

She wrote…

“Looking for a way to keep your kids still?

Buy them glow in the dark pjs.

Tell them they have to lie really still under the light to ‘charge’ them.

I’m not even sorry.”

D’entremont told Today her scheme, “worked like a charm.”

“They laid there for 10 minutes and I had to actually stop them to continue with bedtime. I then transitioned them to their bedroom by turning off the lights — the pajamas really do glow!

They loved it and thought it was great fun because they aren’t quite old enough to grasp that we could see them due to the glow, even though they couldn’t see their dad and I in the dark.”

She also was taken by surprise when her post went viral, but she knew she hit on something where everyone could relate.

“What parent doesn’t want five minutes of quiet? I think everyone — parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, nannies and babysitters, teachers — anyone who is around kids just got it.”

Anyone who has been responsible for putting little ones to bed knows the “witching hour” before baths and bedtime can get a little rough. So, seeing another mom hack it for us is a real game changer.

What do you think? Would you trick your kids like this for a little peace and quiet? Let us know in the comments!
