Recently, Kristen Bell, who voices Anna on the Disney hit Frozen 2, sat down with Today Show host Willie Giest to talk about films, her marriage and her mental health.

On the Sunday Sitdown show, Bell opened up about her relationship with husband, Dax Shepard, and how they talk to their children, six-year-old Lincoln and four-year-old Delta, and their fans, about family and marriage.

Bell told Giest:

We didn’t want people to think that this idea of like ‘relationship goals’ was easy, so we started talking about mistakes we’ve made, and problems we’ve had, and how we go to therapy, and when we fight and how often we fight — which is a lot.

We just started feeling better about ourselves.

Giest acknowledged her willingness to talk about her mental health struggles at a time when people feel shame around the topic.

He added,

“But if they see Kristen Bell, who projects — even sitting right here — she’s happy, she’s smart, she’s bubbly.”

Bell agreed.

I’m like ‘bubbles, glitter!’ No, it’s not always that way. I am someone who takes medication for her anxiety and depression.

I am someone who has to check myself and sometimes — if I’m feeling really low — make a checklist of good and bad things in my life to see if it’s my mental state or if we really have a problem.

While she is incredibly busy juggling multiple projects–The Good Place, Frozen 2 press and Mansplaining–it’s important to her that people know what her challenges are, how they shouldn’t feel shame for their mental issues or for getting help.

She credits her husband for encouraging her to take on the responsibility of talking about this crucial topic so others know they aren’t alone, joking she always hates it when he’s right.

Awww. We love this couple, fights and all. They really are going to last forever.

So… real talk… do you relate to Kristen? Do you find her message inspirational?
