Most grandparents have pretty stereotypical hobbies — birdwatching, gardening, knitting, baking.

But not Hamako Mori. You see, Mori isn’t just any ol’ grandma. She’s Gamer Grandma and she’s officially the world’s oldest YouTube gamer, according to Guinness World Records.

Mori is 90 years old and she’s been playing video games since 1981. She lives in Japan, where she plays games like “Call of Duty” and “Fortnite,” among others.

“After living for this long, I feel more than ever that playing games for this long was the right choice. I am truly enjoying my life — it’s rosy,” Mori said.

You can see the full interview she did with Guinness World Records in this apt YouTube video (with subtitles):

Her YouTube channel has more than 300,000 subscribers, who love to rack up hundreds of thousands of views on her gaming videos. In addition to live-streaming gaming videos, Mori also does unboxing videos.

Every day, she plays video games for seven to eight hours, which is apparently not as long as she played when she was younger! She often stays up until the wee hours of the night playing games, going to bed around 2 a.m. Now that’s some serious dedication.

People seriously love Gamer Grandma. They pointed out that she’s proof that gaming is an inclusive activity:

And they also noted that playing all those video games has probably helped her live such a long life in the first place:

Other people shared sweet memories of their grandmas playing video games:

All in all, it seems like this is the kind of good news people are craving right now. What could be more heartwarming than a 90-year-old woman totally killing it at all these action video games and being recognized for it?

Do your grandparents have any surprising hobbies or talents? We’d love to hear from you!
