Anyone who has loved an animal as they aged and their health declined can vouch for how heartbreaking it is to watch them not be able to do the things they used to do, to know they’re hurting and not always be able to fix it, and of course, to be confronted daily with the sad truth that they’re not going to be around for much longer.

And if you have had that experience in your life, there’s a good chance you’ll relate to cat owner Liam Thompson, who has had his beloved cat Frodo for over 20 years.

Despite being so old (for a cat, at any rate), Frodo would dutifully hobble up and down the stairs in their home in order to sit in his favorite sunny spot, and every day Liam’s heart would break a little bit more.

That’s when he decided he could do something to help, and built a clever little elevator to alleviate at least some of his furry friend’s daily stress.

“This is my cat Frodo. He’s almost 20 years old now, which for a cat is like Dumbledore Gandolf territory. Now despite his ancientness, he still insists on hobbling down these stairs every day to sit out in the sun. That is until today. I LIKE SPOILING MY CAT SUE ME.”

The elevator is constructed from a cart, a rail for it to slide down, and electronic hoist that allows for controlled movement so kitty will not be startled.

It’s actually pretty genius, if you want to know what I think, and I also don’t think anyone on the internet is going to be suing him for spoiling his cat anytime soon.

We love that sort of stuff around here.
