With face masks becoming an essential part of our everyday attire, that has left many frustrated with how they fit.
After all, a mask that does not fit properly won’t provide much in the way of protection. However, thanks to a Montreal-based dentist discovered a clever trick to ensure your mask fits comfortably.
Dr. Olivia Cuid shared a 60-second video tutorial on TikTok that has been secured more than 500,000 likes over the last few months.
@oliviacuidmd Highly requested 60s version of my viral mask hack #fyp #doctorsoftiktok #masktutorial #covid19 #viral #maskhack #learnontiktok
So what’s her secret?
Well, after pointing out that surgical masks typically leave the sides of your face exposed, she provided four tips to fix that:
- Fold the mask in half, lengthwise.
- Tie each of the ear loops into a knot as close as possible to the mask.
- Open your mask.
- Tuck the small opening on the sides next to the earloop underneath the loops.
Did you follow those steps already?
If so, you’ll realize just how simple and easy Dr. Cuid’s trick really is. Despite its simplicity, however, the benefits pay off tremendously.
Even if you don’t don surgical masks on a daily basis (or ever), the same trick that’s going viral on TikTok can be applied with looser-fitting cloth masks too!
That has paid off big for TikTok users who have been desperate to find a solution.
As one user hilariously put it:
“Me and my pea head thank you!”
Considering so many states require you to wear face masks in businesses, shops, restaurants, and nearly everywhere in between, Dr. Cuid and her tightening trick deserve a healthy round of applause.
Just make sure you stay 6 feet away.
