Albinism is poorly understood, but it’s not as uncommon as you think. The National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation estimates that one albino person is born for every 18,000 to 20,000 people.

Even so, albinism might be more common in some regions than in others, but the odds of having more than one person in the family with albinism are slim.

Assel and Kamila Kalaganova are two sisters who were both born with albinism. 12 years apart, they show the world that the world is full of surprises.
