I’m sure you already know this, but Hollywood and the celebrity universe is filled with scandal and strange things that sometimes fly under the radar.
Or, sometimes we do know about these awful things but they’re overlooked by the public for one reason or another…
Are you ready to hear about some celebrities who did some bad stuff that is usually overlooked?
Here’s what AskReddit users had to say about this.
1. Not cool.
“As a person in the film industry. It is well known that Steven Seagal beats the living sh*t out of stunt guys FOR REAL.
In the movie “Under siege”. He TKO’s like 4 guys, throwing them into the wall, and kept saying “get me another one”.”
2. Chanel.
“Coco Chanel was a member of the Nazi Party, not just a supporter.
She went into hiding following the war before re-emerging later to rebuild her empire.
She also fired her entire staff when they demanded worker’s rights.”
3. Bizarre.
“Jared Leto has a fringe group of young women follow him around and refer to him as a leader.
His hair is long and flowing. He wears some long white smocks…something is brewing with that.”
4. Rock star.
“Steven Tyler got custody of his 14 year old girlfriend so she could go on tour with Aerosmith and be together.
Her parents consented.”
5. Still out there.
“People are still playing Chris Brown on mainstream radio like he didn’t try to k**l Rihanna.”
6. Big-time football program.
“Notre Dame Football coach Brian Kelly.
Kelly insisted on having student videographers record practices. Back in October of 2010, the region was experiencing a very bad wind storm (50+ mph gusts), and Kelly hated to move practice inside, so once rain/lightning was over, he moved it back outside, despite the high winds. The videographers had to climb into scissor lifts and ascend up to 40 feet high in this weather.
As you can guess, the wind eventually blew over one of the lifts, sending it crashing down to a nearby street and k**ling the videographer, 20-year old Declan Sullivan. Just before the accident, Sullivan tweeted out some heart-breaking messages expressing his fear over the situation.
The team’s practice continued for 25 minutes after the scissor lift fell over.
Despite the University being determined to be at fault for Sullivan’s death, Kelly was never really held to account for his reckless decision to hold practice outside in horrendous weather and to continue to have the videographers up on unstable lifts.
It should have ended his coaching tenure at the school that year, but collegiate sports money and power doesn’t abide by such silly notions of responsibility.”
7. Footballer.
“Marcus Alonso, left back for Chelsea FC, was drink driving and got his passenger k**led.
Should have gone to prison, paid €61,000 and is often brushed under the rug.”
8. Creep.
“Famed musician John Phillips of the 1960s folk rock group the Mamas and the Papas supposedly had a 10 year incestuous relationship with his actress daughter, Mackenzie Phillips.”
9. Wow.
“Allison Mack (of “Smallville” fame) was a member of the NXIVM cult and was personally responsible for human trafficking, s*xual assault, BRANDING, and literally making other women s*xual slaves of the guru.
She’s currently under house arrest awaiting sentencing.”
10. Bad accident.
“During the filming of the Twilight Zone movie, John Landis demanded a scene be shot in the middle of the night and beyond the amount of time that child actors are allowed to work.
Paid off their parents in cash from his own pocket. During the scene there were big pyro effects and a helicopter pilot hovering dangerously low. The pilot was trying to keep safe but Landis kept telling him to get lower.
Pyro blast damaged the tail rotor of the helicopter, which lost control and crashed decapitating an actor and one of the children, the second child was crushed to death.”
11. Gross.
“John Stamos admitted in Jane Magazine to tricking a girl into having s*x with his friend.
He bragged that he started making out with this girl in a dark room, got up to “brush his teeth” and then let his friend go in and have s*x with her.
No one mentions it.
Some dirt bags just get a pass I guess.”
12. Never heard that one before.
“Boy George handcuffed an escort to a wall & beat them with a metal chain”
13. Jeez…
“Karl Malone (ex NBA player) – impregnated a 13 year old girl while he was 20 in college.
Did not have a relationship with the kid.”
14. Whoa!
“Boy George!
He captured and tortured someone. Chained him in his room.
I believe he only served a short sentence.”
15. Very strange.
“Just everyone that’s with the church of scientology. An organisation KNOWN for their sh*tty and psychotic practices.
From Tom Cruise to John Travolta. They’re all ignored because they’re A-List actors even though they’re involved in a godd*mn cult.”
16. Seems like a loose cannon.
“I really don’t understand how Andy Dick hasn’t been cancelled, he has been waving his d*ck where it doesn’t belong and touching people inappropriately for 30 years.
This isn’t even a secret, I guess people just don’t think about Andy Dick.”
17. It’s true.
“Elvis Presley met and pursued (his future wife) Priscilla when she was 14 and he was 24.”
18. Rock stars.
“Vince Neil k**led the drummer from Hanoi Rocks in a drunk driving crash and got off with zero prison time.”
19. Big Hollywood star.
“Mark Wahlberg was one of the few people in history to violate a civil rights injunction. A civil rights injunction is basically a court order telling someone to stop committing hate crimes.
Mark Wahlberg was originally busted as a 15 year old for attacking 4th graders for being black.
Two years later he robbed and beat a Vietnamese man for being Asian, then beat another man for also being Asian. One of his victims was permanently injured.
Then he became Marky Mark!”
20. Gandhi.
“Mahatma Gandhi was extremely racist against Africans and “low caste” Hindus.
He would also make multiple young women sleep naked with him so that he could test his faith and his control over his body .”
21. Unsolved mystery.
“Robert Wagner and Christopher Walken were out on a boat with Natalie Wood when she went overboard, not knowing how to swim.
She had suspicious scrapes and bruises and stories were not adding up…”
22. A-Lister.
“How has nobody said Sean Penn?
He hit Madonna over the head with a baseball bat when they were together.
Broke into her (their) home when they were on the outs, tied her to a chair with cable, cut off her hair and beat her. Also left her there for like nine hours apparently and came back to continue.
Then he forced her to perform s*x acts on him.
She managed to get away at some point and get to the cops.
But she didn’t end up pressing charges.”
23. Scandalous.
“Roman Polanski drugged and r*ped a child, then fled America rather than serve his sentence.
Yet Hollywood folks still work with this child rapist and fugitive from justice, France won’t extradite him, and people actually say he should be “forgiven and allowed back from exile.”
24. American history.
“President Grover Cleveland r*ped a woman, impregnated her, stole her child and gave it to friends, and theb forced the state to institutionalize her.”
25. Haven’t heard that one before.
“Jackie Chan disowned his daughter for being lesbian and is a Pro Beijing supporter despite being born in Hong Kong.”
26. Barnum.
“The Greatest Showman was an awesome movie, but it portrayed PT Barnum in a very positive light.
His very first exhibit was a black woman who he bought from an acquaintance of his (slavery was banned at that time, but he used a loophole to evade that). He ended up holding a live autopsy of the black woman once she d**d and cut up her body in front of a crowd.
He confessed to owning quite a few slaves in his life and whipping them. They worked very long shifts without sufficient breaks.
His treatment of animals wasn’t very nice either. He had this training method for elephants where he’d shove hot pokers up their trunks. His handlers carried sharp hooks which they used to hurt the elephants. He kept two beluga whales in the basement of his museum for a couple days, though this was kept short by them dying.
Oh, and the guy with dwarfism in the movie? He was 4 years old when Barnum hired him. Barnum had him drinking wine and smoking for the audience.
And he dehumanized his performers a lot. He claimed that people with deformities were part animal or not human at all. Signs would say “What is that thing?” Etc.
He was definitely not Hugh Jackman.”
27. Hmmmm…
“In the early 1990s, Tom and Roseanne (Barr) Arnold financed a large-scale meth operation in southeast Iowa that ran through Tom’s brother-in-law’s horse breeding operation.
This one doesn’t get a lot of publicity, but to the locals, it’s just a known fact.”
