Most kids in the foster care system have been through a lot—the idea should be to make their lives happier if you do end up fostering.
One woman’s sister had the wrong idea about what it meant to be a foster parent, and when she threatened to become one, her sensible sibling prevented imminent disaster. There’s no question that the sister who took steps to prevent this from happening was in the right, but she’s getting flack from a few family members, so she took to Reddit to ask if she did the right thing.
Amazingly, her sister’s biological kids turned out as well as they did. The sensible sibling has experience when it comes to watching the kids and is well aware of her sister’s attitude.
Check out her story and the responses below.
Without a sitter at the ready, she decided to foster and figured that she’d just get new kid when the older one aged out. (WHAT?) Of course, something had to be done.
After the sensible sister stepped in and prevented this from ever happening, she got considerable pushback from her family.
Redditors overwhelmingly said she was in the right to stop the adoptions and fosters.
She not only spared the kids problems, but her sister as well.
Readers were angered that her sister would be so terrible, especially toward kids who have already been through so much.
Some pointed out that the whole system is flawed, and while this is a horrible story, it is what happens sometimes.
Finally, one person just told her the straight truth.
What would you have done? Is this a serious betrayal?
