You never really know what you’re getting into when you start dating someone new.

And I’m specifically referring to what their family is like…because you’re most likely going to have to deal with them on some level.

And this young man wants to know if he acted like an a**hole because of how he treated his girlfriend’s father.

Let’s take a look.

AITA for cursing out my girlfriend’s dad for assuming I’m gay and leading her on?

“I’m (17M) from a small southern town where everyone knows you and knows everything and I have a bestfriend “Bryan” (17M) who’ I’ve known since I was 8 who’s gay.

Ho**phobia is still pretty common here and when Bryan came out the summer before freshman year it kinda got bad for him. I always defended him and I’d get both us those pride badges and pin then to my backpack to support him. As a result alot of people also assumed I’m gay and that were dating and I had to quit football because it got to dangerous to play.

I started dating my gf ” Wynneth” almost a year ago ,but with people thinking I’m using her as a beard. Her dad in particular has never really liked me because of the gay rumors and my friendship with Bryan. Well me an Wynneth have made plans to go to the same college after we graduate.

When her parents found out about it , he stopped me on the way to school Friday to tell me that he’s tired of me using his daughter and leading her on and that I should just sign up to the marines like my f*** boyfriend is doing after graduation.

I told him to back to f**k off and cursed him out and told him to take his ho**phobic s**t on somewhere. Neighbors started hearing the commotion and so her dad steaming just left. Of course Wynneth heard about it and is upset I talk to her dad that way and my parents and Bryan think I should have just let it go instead of being confrontational like that.

AITA?”
